The last KRLA (Los Angeles) Tunedex came out in July 1966. KHJ had taken its place in the weekly multi-station “Survey of Hits” publication. When the KRLA chart next appeared, it was retitled “Top 40 Requests.” This was apparently a compilation of the phone-in requests of the listeners, and usually contained some surprises. It appeared every other week in the KRLA Beat newspaper, so the next one is August 27, 1966. This was the first “Top 40 Requests” KRLA chart, from August 13, 1966.
